MEAN GIRLS

For about as long as I can remember, I have been viewed upon my black peers as "trying to be white". Never understood how you could act a color...but they believed that bc my best friends are white, and I was involved in a plethora of activities, that I wanted to be like them, like white people. I never wanted to be white, I still don't, but the other day, I was put back into that world for a split second...I didn't know how to take it. I hadn't felt like that in a long time...like I said it never bothered me. I know that its the way that we, as people, carry ourselves, that distinguish who we are in the eyes of others. On the outside looking in people can only make snap judgements. They see you and label you..BOOM!! Black girl trying to be white, white girl who thinks shes black, prep, white trash, ghetto, jock....blah blah blah!! They don't know you as a person, but if you were to take a look at me and the life that I have led so far, you will see that I am not trying to be white, I just don't want to be a walking statistic. I want more for myself, I always have. My mother instilled that in me, and since the day that I grasped that concept I ran with it. I was secretary of my student council, I was on drill team, I was a peer mediator, I was voted on homecoming princess all 4 years of high school, nominated for queen my senior year. I was very active in my church, which was predominantly white, I hung out with more white people than black people, so black girls smiled in my face, and talked behind my back. I was in an interracial relationship for 5 years....all things point to me "trying to act white". But that was me!! How are u going to tell me that I am wrong for being me. It sucks, bc my character was and is on the line with my peers to this day.
The black portion of my friends (whom I don't hang out with too much bc they all have children, and are EXTREMELY messy) say that I am doing my thing, but then they talk amongst each other when I am not there, about how I think I am better than everyone. I tried plenty of times to get ALL of my friends on one page, but my BEST FRIEND, my heart, my girl, is white, and a majority of my time is with her and my 3 other best friends. We've been friends for 12 years....that's a long time!! My black friends...they don't like the mixed clubs, they only like to go to all black clubs, or when its "black people night"...what is that anyway?? Black people's night....we are not in a segregated time period anymore!!!! I invite them to just hang or my friend invites them to come to her house, and they always decline!! Never once do they invite them anywhere. For my birthday one year, my black friends threw me a surprise get together, they didn't call my white friends. I just don't get it......it really never bothered me until the other day when I found out my grandpa died. He always told me to keep doing what I was doing....I was fine. When he died, it wasn't shocking to me until a couple of days afterward. My friend was having her baby shower that Sunday, but I really wasn't up to going. So I called to let her know.....left a message with the girl who was putting it together. They never ONCE called me to give condolences. Never returned my call, never asked if I was okay, they were actually calling themselves mad at me because I didn't show, and I was supposed to bring the ice. For the past year while this girls husband cheated and beat her, I was there....I SAW with my own two eyes him out on a date*the fool had the nerve to say hello to me*, when she needed to vent I was there....when she was confused about who here babies daddy may be I was there....I have been and still will be there for her in her time of need, but she shrugged me off so bad. It took me back to high school...the black girls never really liked me. I don't know...it just hurts, bc no matter how much I just try to be me...someone is always judging, and that's not what hurts me...its the ignorance that does. BC it's going to be like that for my kids, and there kids bc no matter what....in my opinion our culture and generation is not doing anything to make it any different. We perpetuate the stereotypes that people are placing on us, and we accept it. I refuse...and I know I am not the only one. How do y'all feel about that....were you that person or do you have a story like mine?? Was your doing better for yourself misconstrued for you being stuck up or "trying to be white"?? Y'all be easy.....

P.S.~Ya'll finally get to see full pix of ya girl!!

IN NEED OF PRAYER.....

Had to let you know why I haven't posted a real post...

My grandfather, my "Fat"(called him that since I was little), passed away this weekend, and although me and him weren't extremely close, I remember when I used to walk in the room and say hi to him when I was little. He was the grandfather who didn't say much, but his hugs did. He was the grandpa who didn't have to say it, but you knew he was proud. I knew he was proud when he looked at me. Proud of me for not letting where I came from stop me from being the best that I can be. Proud bc I continued to better myself, proud that I wasn't like the rest, living under his roof with kids, and on welfare. Proud that I respected him in a different way, and I made sure that he was alright, instead of trying to take. "Oh, I'm doing okay...you?" Always!!
But he isn't suffering anymore, he isn't in pain anymore. And though he never said it, my mind is at peace with the look in his eye that told me he was proud of me. RIP "Fat".....see you when I get there!!! I love you!!

MY RANDONMESS

Why is it 75 degrees today?? Just a question.....bc 2 days ago it was 32 and snowing. I LOATHE TX. sometimes. So with the recent warmth, comes my yearly cold. I know it sounds stupid, but with the contrast in weather around this time, I get a really horrible cold around this time every year. This year, no different....I woke up this morning, and I couldn't breathe out of my left nostril. You know how it is....it stings when you breathe in one nostril, and the other nostril is crusty as hell!! I know its gross, but its fact. You wake up in almost unbearable pain bc your boogs have established and set in throughout the night, without your knowledge. That was gross...sorry ya'll...but I don't feel too good, and I need you to know my pain!!

Is it me, or are you sick of Brittany Spears being the headlining news?? I know I am...I am sick of seeing her bald head trance on my tv. screen when I want to know what is going on with my troops, or the presidential campaigning that is getting underway. I thought CNN and MSNBC were supposed to be for those purposes....it seems like it they are turning into entertainment news more so than world news. Same thing with Anna Nicole Smith, bless her family, but why is this the top story on CNN?? I'm a little confused......

I had to throw a whole jar of peanut butter away....it had salmonella! Well, at least some of the batch it came off the line with had salmonella. I got sick when I heard it...and I thought back to the week before, and now, that I didn't feel good, and I have a legit reason....my peanut butter got me sick! Pissed about it.....Jarrod, you know how I feel!

I'm going to Houston this weekend for a friends bday. My whole adult life, I have not been to Houston. I don't know why I am so excited, but I am. I heard they have a really fun nightlife...lots of grown and sexy clubs. I cannot wait to get my grown and sexy on! I went out last weekend and for the first time ever, I didn't feel the need to over expose myself. BTW, in Dallas, when you go out, 9 times out of 10, your hitting up a club that is 18 and up....hate that. When its 18 and up for girls, and 21 and up for guys....what is that!!! I know girls mature faster than guys...in most cases, but I feel SO SO old when I am in a club with a girl who considers this a proper way of dressing....while I am dressed like this.(KINDA HOT RIGHT) But last weekend I didn't care....I got the right amount of attention that I wanted without having to feel like I didn't have to put my boobs on display to talk to a guy....felt good to be grown and sexy. I like it......

What are ya'lls plans for this weekend??

ROSES ARE RED, VIOLETS ARE BLUE!!

I really love Valentine's Day......even if I don't have a man:) I love the colors...I love how beautiful the flowers are on this day....I love that people put thought into gifts for their significant others....I love this day!! Even if I don't have a man......

Now the REASON I hate the day.....the people who take it upon themselves to ruin it....there is a reason why your a$$ is single....and you need to accept that...so in honor of YOU...and people like you...I present the top 5 reasons why your single on Valentines Day.....

5. YOU MESS UP SOMETIMES TOO!!~I know they mess up sometimes.....believe me! I know they make you so mad you want to wring their necks....but you want one?? Right? You know you do...that is why your complaining isn't it? Men, as much as we hate to admit, are correct about certain things, and everything that goes wrong in your universe isn't their fault, so take a step back, evaluate your situation, and make a womanly decision.....whether your in the wrong or not!!

4. SPRUCE IT UP A BIT~We are all very guilty of this....we have to make a run to the supermarket, or to run a "quick" errand, and we don't do ANYTHING to our hair, make-up, or appearance period!! Imma need you to stop and think about it before you do it! Take a quick glance in the mirror....if you even think for a second "DAMN GIRL" or you jump at the reflection....there needs to be a change! I'm not saying throw on a ball gown, but a little lip gloss and mascara goes a long way...and the holey tshirt ain't gone cut it....a cute baby doll tee or even a nice hoodie....huge difference! You never know who your going to meet in the store...ever!!!

3. KNOW THAT CONFIDENCE IS SEXY!~This cannot be stressed enough.....knowing yourself, and knowing that you look, smell, and feel good, and having that show.....the sexiest asset that you can have. Know that you are fabulous.....even if you don't feel like a beauty queen that day...you know your shoes are the ish...so vibe from that! It really doesn't take much to exude confidence, smiling and not looking so damn mean all the time, although slight, can make so much more of a difference...which leads me to my next point....

2. "WHO YOU CALLING A BI***"~ You.

Let's face it....we as black women have a reputation for being loud mouth, neck rollers, with a tendency to hold a grudge...sux to write that, but if I'm lying correct me. We are "known" to go off on a fool if he even thinks about looking at us wrong! We have the tendency to be portrayed as women who don't take no ish from nobody...and that is all fine and dandy...and in may be true for some of us some of the time......however....if you are going off on people 95.74% of the time....Houston we have a problem! It's one thing to let ole boy at the club know that your not the one....its another thing to spundoo his drink out of his hand, take his cell, call his girl, tell her what a dog her man is, call all his boys that are with him a$$holes, and then proclaim that you are what it is, and stomp off....and then have the nerve to call your Uncle Tank...and embellish a little about how ole boy grabbed you on the booty and he disrespected you! bc you know Tank is all about whooping some a$$.....your a bi***!!! That was wrong.....and all for nothing...all bc ole boy asked you for your number....no wonder you ain't got a man:(

1. RESPECT YOURSELF~ It may seem like a bad psa at this point, but for real ya'll...sleeping around is not cool....and if you think for one second that you are justified bc it is what "all the independent" women do.....you better think again. My theory is, when I get married, and my husband asks me how many people I have slept with, I don't want to have to lie to him by lowering the number, and I don't want him to have to think that I was open like 7-11 before him. It-is-not-a good-look!! But if you are one of those women who don't see yourself ever getting married, or settling down, or you just want to live it up right now....respect yourself enough to protect yourself EVERY SINGLE TIME!! That is more respect than anyone knows!!

So there....my soapbox has a dent in it ya'll..sorry! But that is the way I feel for real, especially being single....single girls gotta have a code too ya know!!!

Hope every ones Valentine's Day was successful and romantic.....let me know what ya'll did!!

As for me, I am spending the evening at Pappadeaux with my girls!! You can't get a better deal, delicious food, and great company!! Be easy ya'll!!
